Same DNA, Different Paths: The vvast Split, Explained

Why we split vvast into two companies, and why it was the right call.

Some companies hold their people close. We’ve always thought the best thing you can do is give them the foundations to fly.

vvast started life as an agency. A scrappy Bristol eCommerce operation that punched well above its weight and somehow kept attracting genuinely brilliant people. Laura Justice was one of them.

Over the past year the business pulled in two directions. On one side, an AI SaaS company building vvastify, the operating system for retail and eCommerce in the AI age. On the other, a world class eCommerce agency with its own momentum, its own clients and its own culture.

So we had a choice. Squeeze both under one roof and let each dilute the other, or give each one room to find its own identity. We did the right thing.

Laura and the team are now Weekday Assembly. Independent. Rebranded. Sharper than ever. They didn’t just carry the flag, they redesigned it.

Look closely at their new WA mark and you’ll still find a trace of the “vva” in there. That was deliberate. In their own announcement Laura described Weekday Assembly as “a clearer, sharper version of what we’ve always been good at”, and she’s right. The name says the rest: Weekday is about showing up and doing the work. Assembly is about putting the right people and thinking in the same room.

I couldn’t be prouder.

And it isn’t just Laura. The people who came through that agency didn’t stay put. Some are running Weekday Assembly. Others went on to roles I won’t take any credit for but was glad to have played a small part in. I remain genuinely humbled to have been a part of careers that are still going places. That’s the real measure of a company, not how tightly it holds on.

That’s exactly what we mean when we say great things happen when we work together. The sum is always greater than its parts.

None of what vvast is becoming would have been possible without the foundation that team helped lay, alongside the large US listed brands we earned the right to work with. A decade of scaling D2C brands taught us exactly where the data lives, where it breaks, and what it’s worth once you can actually read it. That knowledge is the reason vvastify exists.

If you need an eCommerce agency that genuinely knows what it’s doing, go and find them here.

As for vvast: back to building the operating system for retail in the AI age.

Different paths. Same DNA.
